| On Thursday, December 12, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the West Islip Fire Department was requested to respond mutual aid to the Babylon Fire Department for a working structure fire on the 200 block of [Street Name Withheld].
Initially dispatched as the FAST (Firefighter Assist and Search Team), West Islip’s assignment was quickly upgraded upon arrival. Responding as the first-due truck company, West Islip firefighters immediately went to work, performing critical roof operations and assisting Babylon and West Babylon crews with extensive overhaul efforts.
“Our members are always ready to respond, whether it’s in our own district or in support of our neighboring departments,” said a department spokesperson. “We’re proud to provide prompt, professional service wherever it’s needed.”
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all departments on scene, the fire was brought under control without injury.
The West Islip Fire Department reminds all residents to test their smoke alarms monthly and ensure they are installed on every level of the home, especially near sleeping areas.
