| On 02/05/2026 at approximately 1554 hours, the West Islip Fire Department was activated for a reported structure fire in the area of McCall Avenue and Barbara Place.
Upon arrival, Chief of Department Robert Celeste transmitted a Working Fire assignment for fire on the first and second floors of a two-story vacant private dwelling. Mutual aid departments were immediately requested to respond to the scene and to standby.
First-due units quickly stretched hose lines and initiated search operations for any extension of fire or possible unknown occupants. Additional arriving crews deployed supplemental hose lines and began roof ventilation operations. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes. All primary and secondary searches were negative, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Town of Islip - Government Fire Marshal’s Office and the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad. Thank you as always to our mutual aid partners for their professional and prompt response to assist us with operations. |
