Overview
The West Islip Fire Department Rescue Squad responds to approximately 1,800 to 2,000 emergency medical calls annually, providing lifesaving care to residents and visitors throughout the West Islip community. The squad is composed of a dedicated team of approximately 20 rescue-only members and 40 dual-certified firefighter/EMS personnel.
The Rescue Squad is a New York State Certified Advanced Life Support (ALS) Agency, delivering high-quality pre-hospital care under the latest EMS protocols and guidelines.

The Rescue Squad includes members certified under the following New York State EMS credentials:

Emergency Medical Technician – Defibrillator (EMT-D)

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician – Critical Care (AEMT-CC)

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (AEMT-P)

Physician – On-Scene Medical Control
These professionals are trained to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, from trauma and cardiac arrest to respiratory and pediatric emergencies. Their efforts ensure that patients receive timely and expert medical care at the scene and en route to the hospital.
